How to Upgrade to macOS Ventura
Introduction
macOS Ventura is the latest operating system from Apple. In this blog post, we'll show you how to upgrade to macOS Ventura and highlight some of the new features that are available.

As with any major software update, it's always a good idea to check compatibility first. Make sure all of your apps are up to date and that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements. Once you've done that, it's time to back up your data. We recommend using Time Machine for this.
Once you've backed up your data, you can download the installer for macOS Ventura from the App Store. The installation process is relatively straightforward - just follow the prompts. Once it's finished, you'll be able to enjoy all of the new features that macOS Ventura has to offer!

Checking compatibilityBefore upgrading to macOS Ventura, you'll want to check that your Mac is compatible with the new operating system. To do this, open the "About This Mac" window and click on the "System Report" button. In the "Overview" section, you should see "macOS 10.14 or later" listed under "Software." If you don't see this, then your Mac isn't compatible and you'll need to upgrade to a newer model.
Backing up dataOnce you've confirmed that your Mac is compatible with macOS Ventura, the next step is to back up your data. This is important in case something goes wrong during the upgrade process and you need to restore your files from a backup. There are a few different ways to back up your data, but we recommend using Time Machine if it's available on your Mac. You can learn more about how to use Time Machine by checking out our support article.

Installing macOS VenturaOnce the download is finished, you can begin installing macOS Ventura. To do this, open the "Applications" folder and double-click on the "Install macOS Ventura" file. Follow the prompts to continue and agree to the terms and conditions. The installation process will take some time, so make sure your Mac is plugged in and doesn't go into sleep mode. Once it's finished, your Mac will reboot and you'll be ready to start using macOS Ventura!
New features in macOS Ventura.
Dark ModeOne of the most anticipated features in macOS Ventura is Dark Mode. This mode changes the system appearance to a darker color scheme, which is easier on the eyes and can help conserve battery life on laptops. To activate Dark Mode, go to System Preferences > General and select the "Use dark menu bar and Dock" option.
You can also schedule Dark Mode to turn on automatically at sunset or at a specific time of day. To do this, go to System Preferences > Displays and select the "Dark" option under "Appearance." Then, click on the "Options" button and choose when you want Dark Mode to turn on.
Some applications, such as web browsers, have their own dark mode settings that you can enable. In Safari, for example, go to Preferences > Appearance and select the "Dark" option next to "Safari Technology Preview."
Desktop StacksAnother useful new feature in macOS Ventura is Desktop Stacks. This feature helps you declutter your desktop by automatically organizing your files into stacks based on file type, date modified, or tag. To activate Desktop Stacks, right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select "Use Stacks."
You can customize how stacks are sorted by going to System Preferences > Dock and selecting the "Sort Stack by" options under "Stacks." You can also set up hot corners so that you can quickly access your stacks by hovering over a certain area of the screen. To do this, go to System Preferences > Mission Control and click on the "+" button under "Hot Corners." Then, select which corner you want to use and what action you want it to perform (such as opening up your stacks).
New appsmacOS Ventura also comes with several new applications that can be helpful in your everyday workflow. The first is Screen Time, which allows you to track your usage of apps and websites so that you can better manage your time. To access Screen Time, go to System Preferences > Screen Time.
Another new app is Voice Memos, which lets you record audio memos directly on your Mac. To find Voice Memos, open Launchpad and look for it in the Other folder.
There's also a redesigned Reminders app that includes features such as lists for work or home tasks, flagging important items, setting location-based reminders (such as when you leave work), and more. And finally, there's a new app called News that gives you personalized articles from Apple News+ subscribership channels.
Tips and tricks.
Customizing the DockThe Dock is a handy tool for accessing your most frequently used apps and files. You can customize it to suit your needs.
To add an app to the Dock, simply drag and drop it from the Finder or Launchpad. To remove an app from the Dock, click and hold on its icon until it wiggles, then drag it off the Dock. You can also rearrange the icons in the Dock by dragging them around.
To change how the icons in the Dock are displayed, open System Preferences and go to the "Dock" section. Here you can choose to have them displayed as stacks, folders, or a combination of both. You can also adjust the size of the icons and set a custom background image for the Dock.
Taking screenshotsmacOS Ventura makes it easy to take screenshots of your screen. To take a screenshot of your entire screen, press Command+Shift+3. To take a screenshot of just a portion of your screen, press Command+Shift+4 and then select an area with your mouse or trackpad. The screenshot will be saved as a PNG file on your desktop by default.
You can also take screenshots using Quick Look: simply press Space while hovering over an image or PDF in Finder or Safari (or any other app that supports Quick Look). This will open up a preview window where you can view important details without having to open the full file. To take a screenshot from here, just press Command+S (or click "File > Save").
Working with SiriSiri is Apple's virtual assistant that can help you with tasks like sending messages, setting reminders, searching for files, and much more. Siri is available on all Macs running macOS Ventura (as well as iOS devices).
To activate Siri, click on the Siri icon in the menu bar (or press Command+Space if you've added Siri to your keyboard shortcuts). Alternatively, you can set up "Hey Siri" so you can activate Siri without using your hands at all! Just go to System Preferences > Siri and check "Enable Hey Siri." From now on, you'll be able to activate Siri by saying "Hey Siri" followed by your request when your Mac is plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi (you don't need an Internet connection for Hey Siri to work).
